Most of the rookies are working well in the morning trials and with first timers in the mix, this one appears to be a tough race to crack. Lights On and Wind Sprite with a forward run under their belts look a formidable duo. Among the debutantes, Ashwa Shirwal, Ballerina and Almas, seem on course as well.

1. Ashwa Shirwal – Has been regular on the work track and is shaping well, gets the services of a top notch jockey, hence has a good chance to start well.

3. London Bell – Has looked good on the work track, but may need this as an educational run.

4. Wind Sprite – Was out quickly and fought on all the way to finish a decent fourth last time out, can improve on that run.

7. Ballerina – Has been working fluently and is in with a fair chance.

9. Lights On – Was quickly out on her debut and led all the way until beaten to third close home. With that forward run under her belt, she could make her presence felt this time.

1. Berkeley – Hasn’t been too consistent, carrying top weight and will do well to finish in the frame.

2. N R I City – Improved well over her previous runs to finish in the money last time out, after leading until the last 300 meters. A furlong less this time, could be an ideal proposition.

3. Sorry Darling – Fair fourth last time out over the sprint and should put up a good show with choice of rider.

4. Team Player – Beaten to second by Lightning Fairy after shaping well until the final furlong. Has a good chance to go one better this time out.

Furious Fun, on her last impressive victory is taken to score an encore; Gutsy Note and Rising Queen are no pushovers and should provide a stiff challenge, while debutante Silk Route can figure in the frame as well.

2. Gusty Note – Has the speed, but has a penalty to defy as well. However, over the scurry, ought to put up a stiff fight.

3. Furious Fun – Blew away the field while achieving her maiden success last time out. Can defy the penalty and shapes as one of the main contenders.

5. Rising Queen – Has shown consistency in her two runs post her debut win. Can be there in the fighting line.

RHYTHM SELECTION

10/1

Kesariya Balam on her last run emerges as one of the top contenders, while icicle, Maplewood, Lamha and November Rain could vie for the top spot too.

1 Kesariya Balam – Eye-catching second last time out and has been fairly consistent. Strong contender.

2. Cosmic Run – Failed to raise a quality gallop last time out, can place.

3. Lamha – Lined up three wins on the trot in the lower class. Form and distance in favour, can be in the fight.

4. Maplewood – Back on the race track after a longish gap; he is working well in the trials. Looks fit and barring a run-benefit, looks formidable.

7. November Rain – Won a hard fought race last time out in the lower class, may find this company a bit tougher to handle, can place though.

9. Icicle – Finished off the frame in the higher class after back-to-back wins. Has the form and quality to make her presence felt.

MARKET KING

7/5

Market King has the credentials to turn in a speedy performance and achieve an encore. Lagos and Xfinity are live threats.

4. Lagos – Has the speed but lacks on her peak form currently. Can fight it out with the services of a top jockey, hence cannot be ignored.

5. Xfinity – Picked up in form and displayed good speed in his two recent wins albeit in the lower class. Has as good a chance as any to make it count.

6. Staridar – Figured in the frame on the last two runs, but will find the younger rivals tough to beat, hope can improve for the money.

8. Incredulous – Has done well in the lower class, showing good initial speed and then sustaining until the very last. Taking on some real fiery speedsters this time, hence will have to do a lot better.

Botero will look to make amends and open his account. Blue Origin has blossomed well and looks good to make his presence felt in his first big assignment. Fire Power and Count of Savoy should concerned at the finish.

3. Blue Origin – Won back to back after an educational debut. Has the right blend of form and experience along with the temperament to accomplish his assignment.

6. Count of Savoy – Fluent winner over a mile recently and displayed top form while picking up his maiden win. Can fight it out.

7. Fire Power – Beat Zuccarelli while going down by a whisker in the colts’ Championship to Kensington a couple of months back. Working well and comes right into the reckoning.

8. Painted Apache – Has three wins to show from seven starts, yet may have to work hard for a place in the frame.

10. Stockbridge – Won his opening campaign in Bangalore over a mile and has maintained his form. Meets a tougher set, yet can be involved in the finish.
